"Simply very good!"
We've stayed here for two nights and were able to book a good rate through the hotel website for a deluxe room including breakfast. The room was really large and modern, as was the bathroom and everything looked incredibly clean! Nice touches in the room were the complimentary minibar (although the were only 2 beers, 2 sodas and 2 waters in it), the good mattresses and the seperate (large) shower. We didn't mind that we weren't given a room with lake views since those rooms also face a noisy street with lots and lots of traffic. The rooms in the back face a quiet square with a church.
The staff were just great! Very friendly, from the reception to the people in the bar and restaurant. They made us feel very welcome. Upon arrival at Hamburg Airport, one of our bags went missing. We were told that if they found the bag, they would drop it off at the hotel. We informed the reception about it and later that afternoon one of the concierges delivered the bag to our room and even refused a tip! :-)
The bar on the top floor is nice and has some great views (especially at night), but is not that big so it gets crowded quickly. The bar connected at the lobby is much larger and has much more comfortable chairs and seats. As in any 5 star hotel, the prices of food and beverage are 5 star as well... € 4 for a cup of coffee, but for that money you do get a very good cup... :-)
Breakfast was ok, but a bit expensive when it's not included in the room price (€ 24 or € 11 p.p. downstairs for a smaller version of the buffet in the restaurant on the top floor).
All in all a very good experience in a great city!

"Great Hotel, Wonderfull location"
Royal Meridien Hamburg is the place to stay in Hamburg!
Where the traditional Hamburg hotels are old fashioned the Meridien Hamburg is modern, comfortable and convenient.
De rooms overlooking the " AussenAlster" are wonderfull, spacious rooms, large bed with ultrasoft sheets and a marvelous bathroom.
De bathroom is equipt with a large seperate Rainshower and a very nice bath, good amenities in the bathroom.
The concierge is very very kind and gives you all the information you need, also very good in reccomending fish-restaurants!
The staff is very kind and well trainend.
Overall a very good place to stay, it's expensive buth certainly worth the money!

"Great new hotel with many positive surprises"
Stayed here twice in June 2007
The staff is friendly and provides no-nonsense good service.
Rooms are very generous in size with large flat screen and a small mini-bar selection is offered at no charge. Coffee and tea is also available in the room.
Found the layout and design of bathroom quite attractive but the light above the bathroom mirror is inadequate for shaving.
The breakfast buffet is 9/10 and this top floor restaurant has a great view over the Alster Lake.

"Great location,lovely view!"
We stayed here for 1 night and everything was brilliant.
The hotel is approx 20 mins from HAM airport and cost about 19 euros in a taxi. We were checked in very quickly and efficiently and they allocated us a room before the official check in of 2pm.
Our room was a lurid green (sounds awful-but really works!) with very comfortable beds and nice and spacious.
Yes,the mini bar is completely free no matter what rate you book. The fridge contains 2 beers,2 waters and 1 coke and 1 7up. There is also tea and coffee.
The bathroom was one of the nicest I have seen in a 5 star . There is a free standing bath and separate, large shower.Yet again in green.
When you stay at Le Meridien they also give you a free boat pass which is handy to get to the city. The pick up point was only minutes from the hotel.
The views from Le Ciel bar is great. The staff very friendly and courteous also. We enjoyed a lovely french meal in Le Ciel in the evening (approx 100 euros for 2 people) .The buffet breakfast whilst expensive (20 euros pp) was worth it.
Finally we tried out the Futuresse spa,and i can highly recommend the steam room which had lovely twinkling lights in the ceiling.
Hamburg is a fab city,we just wished we could have had longer there.
Definately give this hotel a try - we loved it!

"Fantastic Hotel!!"
I stayed here with my Husband for a week to celebrate our first Anniversary. We had told the hotel when making the reservation that it was a special occasion and asked for a nice room as high up in the hotel as possible. We had booked a superior room with panoramic view of the lake.
When we arrived it was only 11am (check in was at 2), the hotel said they could find us a room or we could wait until the room they had put aside for us was ready. We decided to wait as they said it was on the 6th floor with very nice views.
We were very glad that we did, the room was decorated in various shades of green, as was the (splendid) bathroom. the view over the Alster lake was lovely.
A bowl of fresh fruit was left for us (this was replenished once during the week), and a bottle of champagne and a bowl of chocolates, with a lovely note from the management, congratulationg us on our wedding anniversary.
Both bars were very good, particularly the one on the 9th floor with it's panoramic views. Room service was excellent and, considering this was a five star hotel, reasonably priced.
Our room and bathroom were kept spotlessly clean and touches like the illuminated etched glass headboard made the room just that little bit more special and different.
If I was to find fault with anything, it would be the fact that internet access was very expensive - about 15 euros an hour. The only other criticism would be the lighting in the bathroom. There were 2 options, both perfectly adequate except that there was no direct lighting over the mirrors, and although there was a great magnified shaving/make up mirror, it wasn't illuminated.
Otherwise, an excellent trip, in a hotel I would gladly reccommend to anyone, and one which we would definitely consider returning to again.
The city of Hamburg itself was great and for anyone who likes a really good steak, we would reccommend one of the branches of Block House - the best steak and spare ribs we have eaten in a long time! |

"Christmas markets a great time to visit"
Had a fabulous time in the Meridien Royal , It excelled, even better then its sister in Stuttgart. A party of 8 travelled for my 50th Birthday the rooms we were allocated exceeded our expectations the light theme of the rooms were very calming. The breakfast, with a view outstanding, the staff were very tolerant of our frequent excusions in the glass lifts that allowed us spectacular views of the lake. As my daughter is living locally for a year I hope it will allow us to visit again just to check that standards have not dropped. Expect continental nudity in the sauna and steam room, if your fine with that great. An easy walk to all the local attractions I love Germany!.
