"Top Marks Hotel"
Most of the hotels in Hamburg are expensive but not this one. I found it to be very clean and the staff very nice. I was shocked to learn it was only a 3-star. Decor is new and TV's have CNN etc.
Would recommend it to anyone.
Lots of hot water and cheap restaurants in the area.

"Excellent choice for budget travellers"
We went to Hamburg over New Years Eve 2004/2005 and stayed at the Panorama Inn for six nights. Billstedt is mainly a residential district east of Hamburg city centre with plenty of shopping opportunities, inexpensive restaurants / bars and high rise blocks of flats. Although the area does not have any particular attractions, we found it clean and safe and would go back any time. It is about 8 km from Hamburg city centre and the Underground is about 600 metres from the hotel. However, various buses (116, 230, 330) stop opposite the hotel and take you to the Underground station. The hotel itself is a large high-rise 1970s building which underwent refurbishment only a few years ago. We had a pleasant, bright room, medium sized and furnished in modern style with a large wardrobe, two chairs, bedside tables, large mirror, medium sized bathroom with a bath tub and efficient hot water system. Rooms have small fridges (minibar format) and efficient central heating as well as windows which can be opened wide if the weather should be hot. Hair dryers and tea/coffee facilities were not supplied so we brought our own. The cleanliness was impeccable.
The breakfast room is bright and functional with wooden chairs and tables and breakfast is served in buffet style. The buffet supplied everything we desired for a decent breakfast: fresh crispy rolls, freshly brewed coffee, tea, jam, honey, boiled eggs, cereals, ham, sausage, juice drinks... Right next to the hotel is the "Einstein" bistro and restaurant where tapped bears and inexpensive meals are served. We went there several times. Turkish snack bars in the vicinity sell tasty kebabs and other meals.
In our view, the hotel fully deserves its three stars. We can recommend it to any budget traveller who enjoys decent, clean accommodation and an informal atmosphere. However, some parts of the hotel might be exposed to some degree of street noise. (We were lucky to have a room away from the street.) Because of the excellent price (47 Euro per night incl. breakfast) we would rate it 5 out of 5.
